MSN Degree Programs in New Mexico
With large rural and Native American populations, the state of New Mexico needs nurses who can provide quality, independent care. To take on greater nursing responsibilities, RNs must complete a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree to obtain the clinical skills and decision-making confidence to care for patients as a Nurse Practitioner or Critical Care Nurse.
New Mexico RNs can achieve their goals by earning an MSN degree by completing standard or bridge program options (RN/BSN to MSN).
RN to MSN and BSN to MSN Programs
Traditional New Mexico universities offer a range of standard MSN programs (non-bridge options) in on-campus, online, or blended formats. Many of these programs are designed to be compatible with nurses’ busy work and family schedules. Though universities in the state do not yet offer bridge programs (RN to MSN and BSN to MSN), New Mexico resident nurses can take advantage of offerings from online-only universities. Such established and credentialed schools allow students to complete their in-person clinical experiences at locations near their homes or workplaces.
Typical Program Length:
- Approximately 6 full-time semesters for an RN to MSN
- 4 full-time semesters for a BSN to MSN
Typical Admissions Requirements:
- ADN or BSN from an accredited university (degree level may vary by program)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
